Hope someone may be able to help;
Last weekend I bought a secondhand Hewlet Packard P1100 21" monitor as it was something I have wanted for sometime, it seemed a bargin & I would be able to see much more on the screen.
In general it seems to work fine but its doing my head in, it seems slightly out of focus and after a while it makes my eyes goe fuzzy & gave my wife a headache.
The refresh rate is 85Hz so there should be no flicker, I've downloaded some monitor checking software from the HP website all of which checks out, so I'm stuck.
Is this a known problem for older HP monitors? (Its a Sony trinitron tube in it).
Any advice appreciated as I am going back to the shop tomorrow to ask about swapping it or getting a refund as I bought the last one that he had.
Thanks
Jeremy

Try different resolutions?

Are you running it at 1600x1200 (probably too high)?

Had your eyes tested recently?

Cheers Kevin
You're a life saver! I've been having the same problems - just tried dropping the resolution and it's much easier on the eye.
Cheers

The dot pitch starts to go on older monitors - had it happen on 3 monitors that were NEW. Manufacturer's name was Hansol. Suffice to say I won't be buying them again.

I've tried a number of resolutions, I agree that 1600 x 1200 is worse, and have settled on 1280 x 1024. This seems reasonable as my previous 19" monitor ran at 1152 x 864 with no problems whatsoever.
Surely people using large monitors for CAD & DTP use high resolutions with no probs?

My eyes are OK, maybe its the monitor that wants glasses !

Daz,
Is there anything that can be done to adjust the dot pitch? (preferably without taking the monitor apart?
Cheers for the info.

You also may find a focus adjustment grubscrew inside the monitor, if you fancy taking the cover off

You should be able to get it refocussed. Be very careful if you do it yourself, I'd take it to a specialist.

I wouldn't advise opening the monitor up. Take it to a local specialist to get it refocused.

Unfortunately, it could just be a shagged monitor.

Might be worth checking the warranty - HP normally offer a decent one.

Thanks for the help.
Went back to the dealer today, he's promised that he is getting some more second hand 21" monitors in next week and will put aside a "good one" (!!!!) for me.
Will keep you posted about the replacement.
