Question Laptop buying advice - C2D Intel question

Looking for a laptop for mother.
Budget around £350 and really it will only get used for surfing, email and Word type stuff

Got it in my head I want to get Intel Core2Duo processor and at least 2gb of RAM.

Finding it very difficult to choose. There are so many different processor numbers - what do they all mean?

Found this at Tesco : Acer Aspire 5720 T7500 2GB 15.4" Laptop £349
Acer Aspire 5720 T7500 2GB 15.4" Laptop - Tesco.Direct

and this at Misco : Acer Aspire 5920 Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 / 15.4 WXGA / 2GB
Acer Aspire 5920 Notebook PC - Misco.co.uk

One is a 5720 which I would think is worse than a 5920 but then its processor is a 7500 which must be better than a 5750

WTF???

Do I even need to be worrying about C2D.
What are the differences between Centrino, Athalon, Code Duo etc.

I'm in IT and I can't decide, god knows how average Joe does...
