How do I download onto an SD card ?
I want to download some maps from the web onto the desktop of my macbook and then transfer them onto a new SD card.
How do I put them on the SD card from the desktop ? I have not tried this before so have no idea of what to do . I assume that it can be done ?
Thanks

brian,
1st you need to buy a pc!
I am assuming you have the sd card plugged into your mac? can you see an icon on the desktop?
If so it should be a matter of dragging them from the desktop and dropping them onto the SD card. If its new its probably formatted for a PC.

Haven't even bought one yet, SD thingy, not a PC !
But there is no slot on the macbook to put one in, hence the question.
How do I connect a macbook to an SD card ?
Cheers

do you have usb?
If so you need a memory card reader. My cheap nasty pc one works in my Imac so I would have thought your mac book should be okay with it.
You card reader plugs into your mac and you card into the card reader.
its that easy.

Just a thought. As I want to download onto the card from the macbook does it have to be a card 'writer' or does a card reader do both ?

it should be both, something like this
Vivanco USB 2.0 38 In 1 Memory CardReader - 22443 - www.microdirect.co.uk
I know there will be the soothsayers of doom with bad comments about Microdirect but i've used them for nearly 15 years and never had a problem with them and i've ordered tens of thousands of pounds of stuff from them in the past.
If you must buy it off fleabay, make sure it says mac compatible.
