Question have warning come up on comp

when playing games, it says graphic card is overheating and it is going to turn down the clock speed.

i have checked that the fans are working, and put aextra fan next to the card, and have the side of the case off.

what else could be causing this?

Is it a new card, or one you've had a while?

If you've had it a while, it wouldn't be unusual to see the heatsink & fan starting to clog up with dust.

Could always try taking the HSF off and re-seating it with some new heat transfer compound, or even a new, beefier heatsink.

had it a while now. it has god a different heat sink on all ready, a big copper coloured one, with lots of fins on, and a speed controller for the fan. will try blowing it out with a air duster
