Default Dull hard drive burst rates question...

I just installed a new SataII drive last night - samsung spinpoint 1tb.

the bios is set to AHCI and all drives are UDMA 6, but ...

my os drive sataII to existing sataI drive copies at a burst of 120mb/s and settles to 80mb/s.

my os drive sataII to the new sataII samsung drive copies with no burst at a constant rate of also 80mb/s.

should I be setting something else to get the burst mode on the new drive?

all drives have the tickbox set for the enable write caching, but not 'Enable advanced performance'

I can see no OS differences between the new and the other drives (1x sataII and 2xsataI)

Does the Samsung have a jumper to set SATAI or II? My Seagate did and it was set as delivered at SATAI

no jumper, so sata 2

that wouldn't affect burst cache though.

I might set use advanced performance on all my drives.
