Hard Disc Partitions - Partition Magic!!!
#1
Doh!
Am trying to resize a partition with Partition Magic and it is refusing, I am stuck!
I have a PC with two hard drives in it that dual boots to Win2K & WinXP.
I am running Partition Magic 6 in the 2000 partition as it doesn't run in XP.
Disk 1 is an 8GB drive has a 4 GB Primary partition with Windows XP installed on it, and 4GB of unallocated space.
disk 2 is a 40GB drive and it has a 8 GB Primary Partition with Windows 2000 on it, and a 32 Gb Extended Partition for data which I intend to split again and install Linux when I've solved this problem! .
I want to resize the Windows XP partition to 8GB but Partition Magic greys out the option to Resize the partition, and interestingly shows it to be full (ie 4Gb used out of 4GB) when there is at least 1.5 Gb free.
Anybody any ideas?

Is the XP partition formatted with NTFS or FAT(32)?
MS tweaked NTFS in XP so older version of things like Partition Magic won't handle them properly (if at all).

Hmm, I thought it might be something like that. It is NTFS formatted, PM will 'see' it from Win2K, but obviously not properly
Anyone any ideas how I can resize the partition without rebuilding it? Don't really want to fork out £50 for a Partition Magic upgrade just for this one use...
