Would you buy an ex demo pc or laptop ?
I was just wondering what are the positives and negatives of buying an ex demo pc or laptop, the one i`m looking at still has a manufacturers warranty until November. I would guess that ex demo models will have been switched on virtually every day and will probably stay powered on all day.
The person selling it says that its an ex demo model, is their any way to know whether its a refurb ?

You can get new Pc's for nothing nowadays, why is some one selling a very new PC? if its amazingly cheap buy it if not get something new
Likely to be something wrong with it IMO, same like people selling cars that are 6 months old...

laptops have far too many things to go with them. Get new with a decent warrenty

I would probably buy an ex-demo PC as (like above) mine is on most of the time and generally nothing goes wrong. With laptops though, you have the spring for the lid, the LCD screen and the are generally open to more abuse.

Checkout places like the Dell Outlet, or laptopsdirect.co.uk. If it was a desktop, and you're happy to have a go if there are issues, then ex-demo is fine, but laptops are less end user fixable. It depends how ex-demo it is, I guess it must be about 8-9 months if the warranty is only till Nov. You're probably OK, but you could be buying a well used lemon.

He wants £750 and says its an ex demo, the cost new of one of these is around £1050 at the min. Its got a couple of months left on the transferable warranty, i suppose it could be someone that buys knackered laptops and repairs them, its hard to tell for your average buyer like me.

I couldn`t build one on the Dell website for £750 that has a read and write blu ray drive, a 1920 x 1200 screen res hi def screen, a 500 GB hard drive, a Nvidia 8600 GT graphics card, HDMI output etc etc.
