Default help me!!!!!!!!!!

I have just got an external hard drive but it has no cd driver with it. when i plug it in via usb the computer makes the bleep(aknowledgement) but then it does not show up in 'my computer' how can I get it working? Anyone help please?

It shouldnt need a driver under xp or vista, if it does try the manufacturers website,

Otherwise Right click "My Computer" click on Manage.

Next Click on Disk Management to see if your drive is showing in the list, the drive letter may be conflicting with something else, if so on the right hand pane right click your new drive and click change drive letter and paths, and give it a new letter, S for example.

If it's not showing in the Disk Management it maybe under Removeable storage.

It also may need formatting if it's a new drive.

its down as CYPRESS AT2LP RC42 in device manager. I looked on internet and its some sort of fault code what people are getting. I have no clue how to resolve this

by reading about it, it seems like its a problem with the casing?

Read the post from bob, its needs formatting/partitioning before Windows will recognise it as a device in my computer.
