Is there any reason to buy a PS3....
....over a X360?
I'm working away for a few months, so i'll finally get some time to get back into gaming. I quite fancy a PS3, but i can't find out why i want one when i check the games available.
I've not interest in Blu Ray and i wont have broadband, so the PS3 online and Xbox Live is of no interest.
So should i just buy a X360 again?
I don't want to start a X360 vs PS3 war, but i just want to catch up on the next gen consoles and see if there's any particular reason to get one over the other at the minute.

Buy either. You won't be dissapointed.
Personally I would go for the PS3 - To me its just a better bit of kit, and the games are coming thick and fast for it now.
Thats said, the only person that can decide whether you want to pay the extra is you - Bear in mind though that once the 80GB PS3s his, the 40GB will drop in price.
Of course there are plenty of reasons to buy a 360, not least of which is its impressive back catalogue.

Well......free when "someone" asks, but essentially £5 more a month on the phone contract for the PS3.
Some of the titles on the X360 back catalogue i've not played and seem almost worth it for those. Do they do like a "platinum" range, or cheaper games. So i can catch up for cheaper?

i know they are starting to bring out a 'classic' range for ps3 soon with stuff like motorstorm and resistance for £20 , 360 already has a classic range out. 360 has the most titles available but ps3 are slowly catching up, with some xbox 'exclusives' like bioshock comin out, cant wait to play that!! i had a 360, well 2, but ended up exchangin it for ps3 and have no regrets

I did my usual and checked the reviews section on IGN for both consoles. There was nothing i saw on the PS3, that was both good and exclusive to the PS3.

Exclusives wise
Uncharted
Motorstorm
Metal Gear Solid 4 (Possibly the best game this gen)
GT Prologue
Ratchet & Clank
Plus upcoming you have things like Little big planet, Killzone 2, inFamous etc
Of course 360's got loads of exclusive title that are great - But the question was what does the PS3 have.
Plus of course almost everything is multi platform these days.

Another factor to take in to consideration is what your friends have got.
Seriously, if your friends have 360's then go for that and vice versa, it will make online gaming much better if you have people online that you already know.
If you are a movie buff then the Blu-ray capability of the PS3 may be worth thinking about too.
I don't think you will be disappointed with either console in my opinion.

I saw a clip of that on an E3 video. When's that out?
None of my friends have consoles, so that's out of it and i don't have broadband either. I'm out of the country and selling it in 7m time, so keeping it for something that i wont see is outta the question too.
I wanted a PS3, just because i've not had one, but i'm gradually swaying in favour of the 360.

If you buy a 3yr old 360 then yes there's reliability issues, if you buy a brand new one off the shelf then they are as reliable as any other electrical equipment. It's highly unlikely you'd find a shop that still sells the first/second gen 360's.

I still reckon the way to go is to get the PS3 free and buy a 360.

Brand new games are generally the same price, 2nd hand games on the 360 tend to be a bit cheaper as there's a lot more of them going about.

If i had the money, i might get both, but i'm only getting one because of this deal.
If you had to name 5 titles for each platform then that would be the deal-breaking ones, what would they be? I'll go check IGN to see if they do it for me.
I'm thinking, PS3:
GTA4
MGS4
COD4
X360:
Forza 2
Halo 3
COD4
Bioshock

and Possibly GoW for 360.
You know what - For either, you would be more than happy.
What the plan after the 7 months anyway - Sell it or box it up?

Yeah, sell it.
Off to Oz and the suitcase is already filled 3x over.
I'll be working away in the week for the next 7m, so i can finally get back into gaming with the "usual interruptions".
It does sound like there's still nothing between them and the deciding factors for others BluRay/Xbox Live don't come into it.
Thanks for all comments & suggestions.
