Default dvd help

i have just downloaded Bruce Springsteen - Live in Dublin[2007].Dvdrip.Xvid.AC[5.1]-RoCK.avi but when i play it i can't get no sound. if i try and play it in divx player it says this
this file contains a track in the dolby ac3 audio (code 8192)format. you may need to install a directshow decoder for this audio format in order to hear this file . can someone point me in the right direction in sorting this out thanks

normal divx files are stereo 2 channels. no probs playing, usually via a divx player. someone has ripped a dvd into a divx file but kept the dolby digital sound which has 6 channels of sound (they call it 5.1, 5 channels of sound and the .1 for the low freq sounds i.e subwoofer). to decode it you will need a dolby digital amp. alternatively download the stereo version of the dvd or re-encode the .avi file to use only 2 channels.

In VLC just select:

Audio > Audio Device > Stereo
