Hi

Can any one tell me if windows XP has built in somewhere a program or wizard that can stop who is ever on the computer from going on the net unless they know the password? they can use the computer but not use internet.

I have seen a program called Internet Password lock

but thought I could do it within xp some where?

Thank you all

Off the top of my head Windows doesnt have this feature while used as a home pc as standard.

It can be done as part of a network installation but that wont help you in this case.

I think you will need 3rd party software to do it
Cheers

If your PC access the interweb via a router, you can usually disable things completely there (and it should need a router admin password to access it).

You might even be able to bar certain (internal) IP addresses - i just had a quick look at my netgear one, and it appears that you can BLOCK via IP addresses (under Firewall Rules->Outbound Services).

Thanks this is for my sister shes 200 miles a way.
I was just hopeing to talk her through something over the phone, shes with Virgin, if she moves or hides anything I thing this could course a big row in with she would givein, in the end, where with a password she could just walk out and leave her going mad.
