Default Advice on a smallish laptop

My old laptop of over 4 years old has died and I'm looking for a new machine to replace it.

Nothing special about it ran an ok spec years ago and although it was originally procured for business purposes once the business was sold off it has home / recreational use only. Nothing too taxing though.

I'm looking at a more portable model this time around lookiing at machines at around 12.1" - 13.3". Looking at current specs that I'm not entirely sure will be good or not I've narrowed my search thus far to:

Toshiba U300
PC World UK Computer Superstore - Buy cheap computers, laptops, desktop PCs, printers, LCD TVs, sat nav, digital cameras and more..

Samsung Q45
Samsung Q45 NP-Q45A00A/SUK From Laptops Direct

Now its not that I'm being tight but I'm not sure which to go for or which one is better than the other.

With so many models out there I dont wish to make the wrong choice.

All advcie is welcomed and if there other models please mention them.

I've a budget of up to £600.00 and I've also got a machine for work already.

Ta

Come on peeps this is the computer section.

I've a habbit of looking for asthetics over function so a 12/13" machine may not be the best for me so i welcome your suggestions.

Macbook ?

You can run Mac or Windows - 13" screen, very good battery life (particularly in OS X)

Although that might stretch your budget if it inc VAT!

Especially when you consider that if you wanted to (legally) run Windows, you'd need to buy that too.
