Pre ordering GTA IV
Ive just pre ordered my copy of GTA IV off amazon, after doing the order and going into track packages, it says estimated delivery date : 9 may - 15 may!!! This is a bit of a joke as it comes out tues 29th!
Has anyone else pre ordered this, if so, where from and what is your estimated delivery date??

I'm afraid you've left it a little late to pre-order in time for release. I ordered a few weeks back (which was still leaving it late) from Game, they have since emailed to confirm that it will arrive for Tuesday.

I've tried to pre-order a few days ago and it was impossible. Every where that was taking a pre-order has stopped due to "unprecedented demand".
Now I'm just hoping to turn up on the 29th and find a shop that didn't take pre-orders and has one left. It sounds like a cracking game from the reviews I've seen

Pre-order estimates are in excess of £400million and online pre-orders were pretty much all gone at least 2/3 weeks ago, so if you order now i doubt you'll get a release day copy.

I found all on line outlets have sold out of their pre order allocation, so on the way home from work I popped into one of those massive 24hr Asda Walmarts and asked if they were taking pre orders, they weren't, only selling off the shelf as of the 29th, so i'm guessing i'll be popping in around 05.00Tuesday on my way to work to pick one up, I will ask them the question of whether they get delivered Monday for sale as of Midnight, just in case

yea im just going to go into asda at 7am before i open up at work and pick a copy up
doubt they will have none left to be honest, not such a big deal anyway, wont be able to play it until tuesday night, unless i take the xbox into work, but i always feel a bit of a tramp playing games on a 14" portable tv nowadays

I got my pre-order in about 2 or 3 days before Game stopped taking them.
Only thing that worries me is if they're opening at midnight will they sell my copy to somebody else as I'm not going to get there til lunchtime tuesday...

Why is it only games that suffer from these sort of shortages?
I mean fair enough, the Sonic and Mario stampede may have caught Ninty by surprise, but this is inexcusable. It's GTA for gods sake. There should be no shortage whatsoever. Remember that compared to GTA:VC or SA sales willl be vastly reduced - Purely due to there being far less machines out there.
Its a cyncial example of reducing supply to stimulate demand.

Just received confirmation from Amazon that my copy has been dispatched. Bad news is I paid 1st class delivery and its estimated delivery day is 30th!
