Default hard drive - about to fail - utilities?

Hi,

My 6 month old Samsung HDD has started making intermittent loud clicking noises and these are not sounds that it has made before.

Can anyone recommend a free utility which can identify if there are mechanical problems with a drive?
I've already tried 'HDD Health' and 'DiskCheckup', but they don't help.

I suspect that these are just the early warning signs before a disk failure...

Thanks.

The manufacturers normally have some utils - anything on the samsing site?

Other than that, Ultimate Boot Cd (UBCD) tends to have lots of HDD utils.

And of course, make sure you have a backup! I like DriveImageXML to create an image - needs to restore to the same size or larger drive/partition though

I did find something on Samsung's web site, but there was a warning that it may overwrite data.

I don't have a backup yet, so didn't want to risk it.
