Default xp, vista, hard drives

any body know if these are just
plug in and go, just found out my h/d is knackerd
and im lookin to replace it, but dont
really fancy buyin xp / vista aswell

some-body may even have one for sale maybe
really dont need a big one as it only a spare
room pc..

They don't tend to be interchangeable without doing a fresh install, as I found out recenlty. Its because of the hardware differences.
If you have a COA (Certificate of authenticity) sticker on your PC now, then it would be fine to use asnother copy of XP to install, but register it with the product code on your current COA. So no need to buy a copy.
Thats all legal and above board.

the pc ive got has the sticker on it
as per the thread here below

its just not booting .. ie knackered
so seeking, if its easyier to buy a new hard drive with it installed

or without really... remember i dont have the dics to stick
xp on it, if i did, id it wipe clean and do a full reinstall..

The discs are easily available of certain websites to download.
Its legal as you already have the key. If you need infor on how to get the a backup of the disc, PM me.

You won't be able to by a new HDD with XP installed.
