Question Got 1gb of RAM, will I notice another 1gb?

Hi

This PC is about 2 years old now, 3.2 dual core thingy and 1gb of RAM. I've just had a look on crucial and I can get another 1gb of RAM for £23. Is there any point? Photoshop is struggling a widgy bit to open a few files at once...when I say struggle, it's not quite as fast as it was but is by no means wheezing.

memory just seems so cheap, would it be daft not to?

This is the memory crucial suggest though I'm not fussed about the LEDs as you can't see in the case, 1GB, Ballistix Tracer 240-pin DIMM (with LEDs), DDR2 PC2-6400 upgrades for ASUS P5VDC-X Motherboard, CT632633 from Crucial.com

yup, extra ram is always a big
Photoshop uses the memory in its own way and improves with the extra

Yeah, go for it; can never have too much

How many sticks of RAM do you alteady have?

If you only have one, then it will only work in single channel. Add another stick of the same size and speed and you'll get dual channel.

There's only one stick in there atm, 1gb.

I think there are another two slots but I think they're for different sticks...can I whack some in there for good measure

Hmm, may have to investigate

Crucial's advisor tool got a munk on when trying to scan this PC. Don't know if it makes a difference but we had it built to our spec from bits. I had to manually look up the motherboard. Manaul labour, in this day and age!
