Macs and Photoshop - help needed please
Hi
I am after some advice please:
My daughter is running a mac laptop. She uses Photoshop A LOT!! (she works in animation) She has now got a message saying the scratch disks are full. She says she has tried reassigning them - I think she meant to the hard disk of the laptop but it has had no change.
She wonders if the hard drive needs defragging and if anyone can advise whether firstly they agree and secondly if they do is there a program she can use to do this?
Your comments would be greatfully received. Many thanks
Sara

Check how much RAM she has installed, physical RAM not virtual.
Also suggest you go to applications, utilities and activity monitor this will tell you if she maxing out the RAM.
If so you'll likely be hammering the hard disk and using up the space quickly. OSX is meant to be self defragging but I've found you can get some good results using idefragger to free up a great deal of space.

Thank you Ian and AllanB. I have passed the comments and link on to her and will let her try the recommendations. It is very frustrating for her - and holding up her work.
