Media player 11 playback problem ?
I have recently installed media player 11 and i'm having some problems with the display. There is green/pink squares showing all over the screen, when I close the media the same squares are still on the screen until I open something else when they will then disappear.
I'm a bit worried as these green/pink squares were on the screen when my graphics card died,it's only just been replaced under warranty,it's an Ati Radeon X1650 pro.
I can play games with no problems at all, just in media player 11.
Any ideas ?

Download the CCCP (Combined Comunity Codec Pack), That should fix you probelsm, when it asks you if you want to install the classic player select yes, if find its the best play so you can see if it happenson there too. That should solve your problem.

Have you got the latest driver for your graphics card? id you uninstall all old codecs before you installed the comunity codec pack? did you try playing it in windows media player classic? If you click Start - All Programs - CCCP - Players - Windows Media Player Classic, try it on there

Reinstalled the drivers and the display is still corrupt.
I've tried all the drivers available, new and old !
Any ideas what else I can try ?

I assume you mean that when you uninstall your video card drivers the video playback works fine? If so its got to be the drivers or the ATI software is conflicting with another program. Has this always happened or just all of a sudden? What did you do the night before it happened? What operating system are you using?

I would suspect a codec. Use the GSpot utility to see what video codec the file requires and then try re-installing that. Or try installing an alternative codec.
I had a weird issue with Media Player before where my playlist had 2 videos. The 1st played fine, but the second had the colours all screwed up. Turned out to be a dodgy codec.

The problem has now got worse,I can't play any games or watch any videos at all.
I'm using windows xp home.
The display is fine until I open something which has moving graphics such as videos or games. Browsing the web and viewing photos are all fine

There was a problem with ATI card ages ago, they would drop the voltage and clock speeds when 3D apps was opened, do you have the ATI control pannels installed? have you tried using it with them disabled If not id cotact ATI mate. It does sound like its a driver issue though

It's driving me up the wall now
Must be a driver issue as it all seems fine with no drivers installed
