Can't help you but go to www.dpreview.com for help on DIgital Cameras. I've just bought a Canon PowerShot G2 and a 1Gb MicroDrive.....and I can confirm it is the dogs danglies!

It's a cracking site...loads of indepth reviews and lots of stick shaking! If you want to buy online some good sites are:
www.ukdigital.co.uk
www.askdirect.co.uk
www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk
In the end I got mine from Jessops as they price matched the £599.00 price of Ask Direct and threw in a 16MB SmartMedia card....although they didn't know because it was left in the camera

geoff_clio172, just bought a G2 a few weeks back. Excellent camera, even though Im still playing with it in AUTO mode. I got a 32MB Compact Flash card with the camera. Incidently, SmartMedia is a different sort of memory card and wont work with the G2, but I guess you know that and it was a slip of the fingers.

Hi
I have an old DSC50 with the movable rotating LCD display. Problem is it has no viewfinder for v bright days. Pics though are of excellent quality and the camera and software is very easy to use. The new one is a bit chunky though with a fixed LCD display.
2.1MPixel is enough for me but the 4MB card can only hold 4 large pix, so at least a 32Mb card is required.
Hope this helps

Yes it was a slip of the fingers! Had been talking to my boss who has a Fuji 6800 and was talking about SmartMedia and I did mean CompactFlash! I've used it in Auto and a few of the other modes including filming, cracking camera. With my 1Gb MicroDrive I can take over 500 pictures in the best quality and largest size JPEG, and about 450 in RAW.

Damaja: sorry for 'hijacking' your thread.
geoff_clio172: Im not sold on the microdrive philosophy, way too many pics to loose if anything goes wrong. Something so small and mechanical must equal big chance of mechanical breakage! I got myself a 128MB CF and will probably get myself a digital wallet in due course. Agree with you about the camera though, fan-bl00dy-tastic.

NICE PICCIE !!!!!
I have seen the P50 for under £200 - so its a good deal
I looked at the G2 - yes, good camera
BUT ...........................
The bargain has to be the MINOLTA S304 at £338 !!!!! nothing, even the G2, comes close to offering better value
Oh, yes, I bought one - BRILLIANT !!

Yes, Dixons was the cheapest I'd seen it, several have been sold on e-bay recently at £250+, which is daft.
If you get this camera, you will also need to get the infolithium battery and charger for about £70, standard Duracell AA will only last 10-15 minutes, the ones supplied with the camera about 2 minutes.
Rechargeable nickel metal hydride AA's are useful for back-up, try and get some with a capacity of at least 1800mah.
