SATA drives - Native Command Queing
How much does NCQ effect performance (in a positive way) ?
Just realised my new-build has the motherboatd set to normal IDE (PATA) mode. If I enable AHCI I will get NCQ and 'other advanced SATA features'
Downside is, I have to either find out if I can integrate the relavent SATA driver into my XP boot partition - or res-install windows. Not a mjaor bummer but If it's hardly worth any gain in speed, I might forget it.
So is SATA + NCQ worth it ? (and I can I integrate drivers post XP install ?)

All the stuff I've googled says that too......but it's all from around 2005!
To be honest, I've been impressed with the general speed of moving/copying large files/large folders of many files anyway on this new build. Even USB performance seems good.
ah well, if it ain't broke......
(.....**** about with it till it is)
