Default Any MAME users ?

I've downloaded the latest version, but I'm having trouble playing some of the games. For example, Donkey Kong fails to run - it brings up a window saying there's a missing ROM or CHD file. Have they changed something with MAME? Donkey Kong used to work.

Anyone know why this is ?

Sometimes the latest version has hiccups,

not sure what level its at now, but i know V5 was more stable than V6,

sometimes an alternate front end sometimes helps

i stll run mame32 v0.86

i got it as a pack years ago when it was "new" and it came with 8 cdrs with the full rom list on it, IIRC a site called tombstones? had people doing it for non profit, all you paid for was the postage, i can imagine that the rom list now is hooooooooooge, must have another look and see if i can find somebody with a new updated full list!

actualy 2 weeks back i dug out my x-arcade joystick and had some games of mortal kombat

what are CHD`s ??

seams you can buy the pack for a lot less without the chd`s, never heard of them ?

Its a compressed hard drive image, the big boys. The later games are generally CHDs, so if you just want old skool you won't need them.

I have 120Gb drive dedicated solely to MAME Only about half full though currently.

The discs are a great investment, as you generally get all the artwork and cabinet pics too.
