Default Help - enlarging text on certain websites - possible ???

Anyone offer an advice on the following ?? have my pc monitor screen res set at 1024 x 768, problem is although the screen image is good enough for my needs I find that on some websites that contain very small text the text is just that, very small so small as to make it very hard to actually read !! have tried all screen res settings but no joy.

just wonder if there are any other settings within windows xp that will alow me to enlarge the text image shown ?? have clicked on the extra large fonts which with the screen res etc selected does give me large fonts on some sites but again no matter what screen res etc I choose I find I really do struggle with some off the text from certain sites, anything I can do ??

and already wear glasses for pc work so please no eyesite test replies please !!!

jono - usually your internet browser has a feature where you can increase the text size on any website you're looking at.

For example, if your using Internet Explorer, while viewing the website, goto the VIEW menu then TEXT SIZE and set it to something bigger

If you're using Mozilla Firefox, then goto the VIEW menu then select ZOOM (I use version 3 of Firefox, so it maybe slightly different on other versions)

If you're using firefox, get the Greasemonkey extension, it'll let you customise individual sites.

Incidentally, the new version of Firefox, version 3 (currently in Beta) has a great zoom facility. EVERYTHING you see on a website is englarged - not just the text.

Works really nicely.

Ah - put that's for everything, GM will do it per site!

For other extensions -
Get rid of piclens, they update it about twice a week so not near finished

And in no particular order:

Adblock plus
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
Best subscription is EasyList (USA)
When you've installed this, visit a few pages side by side to see what it's filtering, also bring it up now and again to see on any particular page what is being blocked. Can be surprising.

British English Dictionary (if you haven't already)
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:3
Spell check in form filling (forums).

Fasterfox
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1269
Noticably faster, also has popup blocker. "Optimized" is fine "Turbo" is overkill.

FireFTP
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/684
Full FTP client in the browser, I've ofund not the fastest at transfers but dead handy.

IE Tab
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419
For when you just have to have IE

Foxmarks
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2410
Add a favourite on one machine…. It adds it to the rest.
Also makes favourites available on line for those times when you can’t remember a URL and aren't at your machine.

TabScope
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4882
Funky but I like it

Stumble upon

You'll either get into this or you won't, most people I've told use it.
