Default Setting up Wireless Network

We have a PC and have just bought laptop with built-in wireless LAN and want a wireless network such that PC and laptop can see each other plus the laptop can access the broadband internet link that is currently running off USB connection to the PC

What is needed ?
Wireless router for the PC and laptop to connect to the b/band ?
PC is running Win XP, laptop is Vista.

One wireless router attached to your broadband line.
Setup the router via the username and password you were given by your ISP. dont worry most routers these days have a nice browser based setup wizard.

Once the PC hard wired or wireless is attached and the link is good, simply go back into the router and configure the security levels. Note the key and then get the laptop to find the new wireless network you have created, enter the key and you are done

Yep I second that. I have a Netgear DG834GT but there are newer ones, PC World stock a good range. Also, they are that popular (common ) if you get stuck, which I doubt you will, lots of peeps to help you out.

Who is your ISP?

I'm with AOL and they support Netgear routers, they have all the settings etc and walk throughs how to set your wireless up and make it secure.

Yeah, DG834GT is the one I have too.
Infact I have one, and i've setup 2 others for friends who were previously in non wireless setups.
I got them all from amazon too - don't like PC world

Seriously though, they practically set themselves up.
