Question

I fancied a bit of gaming nostalgia, so I purchased the Doom trilogy. However, although it installs and runs fine on XP, the mouse will not work. Do I need some speial DOS mouse drivers, and if so how do I install them and get them to work in XP?

Yours hopefully and nostalgiacally

Geezer

Yeah, if I remember Doom correctly, it didn't use the mouse at all. There have been funky little modded versions released over the web allowing the mouse, but not an actual mod for the original game

Cheers,

Nick

Cool

Doom always supported the mouse, but was originally designed to run in DOS, altho' you could hack it to work in Windows properly. XP treats DOS based programs differently to the earlier versions of Windows, try right clicking on the Doom.exe and running the compatability program, this may sort out the Mouse problem. Alternatively write a quick batch file, running the DOS based mouse driver first, then Doom.exe. I'm guessing slightly, as I'm responding from work, and don't get home to try this until the weekend. Let me know how you get on.
Cheers,

Darrell
