10m HDMI Cable - any point in spending £££?
So, I need a 10m HDMI cable to wire my PS3 up to my ceiling mounted projector. Currently using a temp. 3m one which is making the the room look messy and keeps trying to strangle me when I get up.
So, was about to buy a £25 cable of one of the onlune stores www.tvcables (I think) then read some post by What Home Cinema suggesting I should be buying a far better quality one at £160 +
So, surely as this is a digital link, there can be no real loss of information, that wouldnt be rectified by the the projector anyhow? Is there really any point in the expensive HDMI cables?
Not into wasting my money on things I dont need, so any experts on HDMI signal degradation across 10m offer an opinion?

Go for the £25. You can go through SIX of them and still cost less than the one at £160.
Also, these cables are currently a rip-off but as HD becomes more widespread, expect the cost to plummet. No point spending £160 IMO, ridiculous price.

Just because it's digital doesn't mean it isn't subject to interference. It's still a cable after all. BUT, in my experience at 5m, there was no need to shell out daft figures. I payed £20 for my 5m HDMI and have zero problems.
I'm about to shell out for SkyHD (the only Sky box with a digital out) which I plan to run a 15m HDMI to the bedroom, so make sure you psot back on here what cable you used! ;-) Do a search as I created a post on HDMI recently and some kind scoobynet members passed on their thoughts.
Neil, one point worth making - I use HDMI to connect my PS3, PC and soon my SKYHD to my projector (Via an A/V AMP) and some cables use very big plugs at the end. I had to bring my projector further off the wall just to accomodate the plug!

i recently bought a hd tv adn after asking loads of shops and reading mags/ online reviews about what hd lead to use they all say stick with the cheaper one, basically the same and as said above u can buy another few if one is crap for the £160 for that one. im not 100% sure but it might be worth gettin a more expensive one if ur running 1080p ?
