I have to admit i am not the best when it comes to knowing what you can add to a laptop or pc from the spec, basically i am looking for a new laptop and the Sony Vaio AR51M has taken my eye as it has a bluray player with a huge hard drive and a fast processor.

Ideally i want a laptop that has a built in tv as well as i have my laptop close to my bed and i want to use it to watch a bit of tv late at night or a dvd, the AR51M has everything i want except a built in tv tuner so could one of you possibly have a look at the spec below and tell me if you can add a digital tv tuner from one of the slots because if i can its the laptop i want.

Vaio : VGN-AR51M : United Kingdom

In my experience there's 2 types of tv tuner for laptops - USB and PCMCIA. All laptops have these connectors.

I personally get a better experience with the PCMCIA version. This is the one I plug into mine, which can pickup digital and terrestial channels:

Pinnacle Systems - Product summary - PCTV Hybrid Pro Card (310c)

You can buy them in PC World, etc...

What is the quality like with those tv cards, can you pick up all the freeview tv stations that you can with your normal tv ?

Assuming your aerial is ok, yes - quality is good.

I pump my Sky TV into my laptop this way. Looks great.

Most laptops have PCMCIA slots but not all. The cheaper models dont, some e-systems from PC world for example.
