Evening chaps,
My mate's bought round her Dad's PC as it's been mis-behaving!![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
XP-based system (XP Pro SP2), BUT it's got AOL.
Now here's the wierd one. I've hooked it in to my network for standard DHCP internet access, yet it won't connect to the Internet.
However, once I log in through AOL, I can surf. BUT things like AVG & Adaware won't update (it's like they're trying to connect via the old TCP/IP)....
Got me totally stumped. Any suggestions (apart from telling them to buy a Mac!!
)

If there using aol,s proprietry gunkware, then gawd help them,
its got more hooks and hidden attributes than a bindweed![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
best bet.
uninstal Aol's front end,
trawl the registry and remove every mention of the TLA (AOL) thats all the regs keys etc.
then use a vanilla front end. firefox / msn / opera
the other alternative is to reformat the drive and start again.
AOL's propriatry SW is a nightmare.
i spent two days trawling a laptop for a neighbour sorting out his net problems, (AOL) got it all working via MSN / firefox...
two days later he sends it back with the same problems..
He's reinstalled the AOL software.
I formated the drive and gave it back![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
told him there was no other way![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
