Question DRIVING ME MAD! CREATING HYPERLINK TO NETWORK LOCATION IN LOTUS NOTES R5

Creating links to websites easy but can't get a hyperlink to a file saved on a network to work (or a file saved anywhere come to that!)

I've tried... highlight text > Create on main menu > Hotspot > Link Hotspot > then I've changed the type to every option and tried everything - just doesn't work

Can anyone put me out of my misery?

Cheers

Ive just tried it out on my V6 Lotus notes. It doesnt actually appear as a link until you send it - Keep it as a link and then send it to yourself.

are you using a drive letter or an explicit path?

I just tried with both, and if I create the link with a drive letter it works, if I create it with an explcit path, it doesn't.

Completely crap obviously, but then that's lotus notes for you.

How are you using notes? Locally or from a citrix server?
Domino servers are a pain, hence they are cheaper than setting up an exchange server & Outlook.

The only way i can think is to create the link in a document(word etc) put the link to your net shortcut on the document, then send it via notes.

Why not just use...

file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/User/Desktop/stuff.txt ???

or

file:///ServerName/Data/stuff.txt ???

What version of Notes are you using? UNC support was introduced a while ago.
