Default PS3 Boys - What do I need to get on line wirelessly, bear with me ;-)

I have never played any consol on line and it's about time I sorted myself and the PS3 out.

I'm totally cluless on this and would appreciate a little help please, I've done a search and cant find anything

What piece of kit do I need, a wireless router maybe, B/Band system is the standard btinternet, once I have the right piece of kit what then, plug the line into the router and then out of the router and into the pc, what do I have to do to my PC and PS3, is it major surgery or is it all explanitary on the set up programme that comes with the router ?

Thanks

I don't have my consoles going through the PC, they're connected directly into the router, my PC has a wireless connection. Both the PS3 & 360 will find and connect to the internet automatically when connected - the PS3 can connect wirelessly out of the box if your router has the wireless capability, a network cable is also supplied in the box but its only about 2m long.

You'll also need a bluetooth headset in order to dish out the smacktalk.

Sorry didn't make myself clear enough

So I buy a wireless router and the PS3 picks it up via it's Wi-Fi, just wasn't sure how I hooked up the wireless router, i'm sure it's all in instructions and should n't be too dificuly

Any suggestions as to which router to get, some have said Netgear ?

You may need to portforward via the router with the PS3, as I ended up having to do that when I use my router. Go here for instructions:

steer clear of the netgear 834pn, it is not compatible with the ps3, i had to buy a new router, using a d-link at the minute and cant fault it.

doddle to connect the ps3 to your wireless

I also have a D-Link and it works fine . In PS3 Network settings just configure it to use Wireless then run the search for Wireless Networks and enter your password and off you go !
