Default Microsoft USB Remote Control Problems

For a while now I've had a media centre PC in the front room with uses a Microsoft USB receiver for a remote control.

I've just added an xbox 360 to the mix and unfortunately the controls on the media centre remote seem to turn the xbox on at the same time which is annoying.

Anyone happen to know the solution?

is there not an option to "change channels" on the transmitter and also one of the receivers? That way you would use channel 1 for the xbox and channel 2 for the PC?

If those options are not present then you need new kit, otherwise the one controller is always going to control both devices. If you don't want to remote control one of the devices then you could try and disable its remote receiver...by fair means or foul (tape over the receiver if you cannot find something that lets you disable it )

Theres an option on the 360 under system/console settings/remote control to set the 360 to accept All Channels or Xbox 360 Media Remote, just set it to the latter.
