Default Ethernet adaptor quick Q

I,m using an inbuilt ethernet adaptor on my current set up,

my old setup used a pci network card.

For some bizzare reason I cant talk to various routers on there default ip addresses using ethernet

these are 192.168.2.1 & 192.168.1.254

i also cant access these default routers using the wife lappy (again ethernet connected)

However if i use the wifes lappy and search wirelessly, i can see and connect to both routers.

once connected, I can on one of the routers change the default ip to 192.168.0.1, and then it will talk to the pc via ethernet.

The other router dosent have the provision to change the default ip so i,m not to sure about that one.

ive just done an ipconfig/all command, and according to what it returns, it says that DHcp is not enabled on the ethernet adaptor.

Should it be enabled, and if so how do i do it

if its not needed, how do i resolve my comms issue i dont want to be doing all the configuration via the other halfs lappy

Default

yes it was my end

i did some diggin around, and found that i had locked the ip addresses when i was trying to configure the netgear! last time.

I had locked the default ip as 192.168.0.1

once i changed to to assign automatically it found the bebox, and as i suspect will find the belkin without any probs.

It wouldnt play ball with the xbox, untill i found it was missing the default gateway and subnet masks.

Once in it wasn't happy about WPA access, but that may have been me :0

i tried again using wep, and the xbox got the pc

just done some audio and video, seems ok, one glitch on video, but i think thats the video.

still wont work mind you when i enable the firewall, but i will use the firewall logs to find out what ports are being refused, and then get those allowed
