Default Could someone recommend me a PS3 game?

Not a FPS as these are a pain on the consoles

I want something I can pick up and have a blast with while showing off what the PS3 can do...

Any ideas gratefully received!

You could wait until autumn for little big planet or GT5 (or import a Jap version of GT5 prologue)...

Uncharted - Graphically ahead of pretty much anything out there and an absolutely cracking game.

I'd second this (just completed it) but it may be a bit close to an FPS ?

I have to say Motorstorm blows people away when I put it on. Especially "Rock Hopper" and "Rain God Mesa" circuits !!

Its a stunner to look at, but its not until you get stuck in you realise how clever the track designs are, and the depth it has. Plus you can pick it up used for £22 !!

Just to point out that i couldn't even get on with Oblivion as it is REALLY hard to shoot arrows or fire spells at any target!

Although looking at Uncharted - it does look good!

It's stunning - If you are running it through a HD screen, there are some moments where you will just go

It a third person adventure shooter - Kind of like a prince of persia mixed up with gears of war and tomb raider.

Every PS3 owner shoudl buy it.

Or, of course download the demo of PSN and see how you like it.

Its so beautiful looking, I played Call Of Duty 4 immediately afterwards and it's graphics look poor by comparison.

Plus they've just commissioned a sequel to it! (Uncharted)

Kieran - I know what you mean about the controls for a FPS not translating well to a console - but you'd be amazed how quickly you learn to control Uncharted. It keeps a tally of your headshots throughout the game!

What's your PSN name? I'll drop you an add for some Motorstorm and COD4 fun once I am done with Mass Effect

Get Sega Rally for £17.99 on Play

Although it doesn't exactly showcase the PS3 it's still a cracking game

Takes about 5 mins, mate (assuming you have a wireless network at home) - If you havent hooked up your PS3 to the network you will get a firmware upgrade that you will have to do before you can connect to the PSN store.

Once you have done it though then you'll have access to a load of demos.

PS3 is hard wired into the local switch and had 'net access. I've done the 2.10 firmware update... there are a hell of a lot of improvements since the first firmware!

I'll go through the options this evening and let you know - it all looks very easy to sort out.

I just need to work out how to set up the 40Gb model as a media extender so I can show off me photo's next.

I DL'ed the demo of Uncharted last night, and as above the visuals are just sublime.

Quite like the demo so far, although there's a bit too much shooting needed for my liking, and its hard to tagert the baddies (I prefer games where you can just explore, rather than all out gun fests).

The demo is a bit gun heavy to be honest. In the game proper, after the initial shoot out, which is like a tutorial, I think its about 30 minutes before you shoot at anything - You are just exploring and solving puzzles.

That's what makes this game for me; it's the pacing. Just when you think "Oh I am getting bored of shooting things now" the game changes to a more exploration type affair, and just when you think "Oh man, I want to shoot some stuff" 25 men come running round the corner.

That sounds more like it. I used to really enjoy the puzzle aspects of tomb raider, broken sword etc so may just give Uncharted a go.

Some good humour it in too. Cracked up when he hit his head . . . "I did NOT see that"

We noticed a number of graphical glitches and laughed at his strange jumping animation, but it doesn't spoil the game.

I've got a copy of Uncharted for sale if anyone's after it. I recently completed it,so it's just sitting on the shelf. Only bought it at Chrstmas. Sorry Kieran - should've pre-empted your purchase.

£25 + £2.95 p&p ?

£27.95 from Gameplay, you need the code for a £5 off, also very slow to deliver, 2 weeks, it was worth the wait a very pretty game.
