Default PS3 HDMI output

Could someone tell me where I am going wrong here?

I either set the output to HDMI via the settings screen or by pressing the power on button for more than 5 seconds and while it recognises a HDMI device there is no picture.

I've run either via the HDMI receiver or straight to the TV with no image

Works fine on the AV cable supplied but no joy with known working HDMI leads.

TV is a 40" full 1080P screen so it is capable of taking anything the PS3 throws at it.

Help?

Is the HDMI cable okay? Have you tried another? The only other thing I can think of is that the HDMI socket on the PS3 is borked.

yup - tried 3 cables and had the PS3 linked into the TV directly or the Onkyo - same result.

The Receiver only ever shows "No signal" so I suspect it must be the port.

Oh well.... back to the shop

Sorted - it WAS the HDMI port. Replacement unit worked straightaway in full 1080P

Nice.

First time I have heard of a HDMI port in dying like that. Maybe a manufacturers defect.

Glad your up and running.

I got the speel off the bloke in the shop... "are you sure you've checked it Sir?"

I almost did the "I'm a computer techie" thing but didn't

Still - Oblivion on the 40" TV was worth the wait
