Default Using email with Orange Broadband

Is anyone else using Outlook to manage their email, on Orange BB?
I have my own email accounts, non orange ones, and it wont send. The help forums so far have been useless.

Anyone else had this issue and how did you over come it?

lol I did get that impression, once I had an Orange email account set up under his instruction, he went on to tell me, as for the other accounts, we dont have support material for these, so im unable to advise you.

Aaaah well, will get it sorted somehow

the smtp server is the only thing you'd need to send email .. so long as it matches your BBI connection it'll work.. unless you have authentication turned on

If the orange SMTP server doesn't relay mails the only other option is change the SMTP port, some (yahoo for example) also listen on a non standard port to get around this

You may find Orange don't support emails from non Orange email addresses being relayed through their SMTP server.

They may also ****** any port 25 (SMTP) traffic and re-route it to their SMTP sever regardless of the SMTP server you supply in yoiur connection request.

If these are the case you need to send your non-Orange email through a different SMTP server on a different port (the submission port 587 is the usual alternative) but you will need to be sure the SMTP server is configured to do this. You may also need to provide authentication parameters to the SMTP server.
