PC to Monitor connection

PC to Monitor connection
Just got a nice new monitor for Christmas and it has both DVI & D-sub connections, my graphics card also has both so i wondering which is the best way to connect them or doesn't it really matter much.

DVI will be superior if you have a cable. Its not always straight forward though as cards usually only support one method of connection at a time.
