No, you can get all normal ADSL services through BT, I'm guessing you are looking at the LLU's enabled at your exchange. Pipex is still an option but wouldnt be my choice, what is your budget/useage requirements?

I could recommend Zen and IDnet but for £25 per month and with 20gig useage (Zen) and 30 gig useage (IDnet) IIRC. No call bundle there though.

Broadband At Home

IDNet Broadband | Home and Home Office Broadband Services

How much do you download each month, one of the Enta resellers may be a better bet if you do a lot. Sky BB could also be an option for you

Ive used Pipex for several years. Currently on up to 8mbit (although get about 6.5 max) for £14.99 a month (which works pays for anyway so doesnt mean much to me). Never had any network outages of note (and I play online a lot) and whenever I have had to ring up their Customer Service they have answered very quickly and been very helpful.

They use to use my companies backbone (alter.net) as we used to own them back in the day. Not sure if they still do tbh as lost track of who has bought who.

One thing to note, Pipex throttle all P2P connections even encrypted ones, so if you are into that dont bother !

I have been with them for a few years service is fine but overpriced, so may be going to Be soon.

Strange as with Utorrent I regularly get up to 800KB/sec combined.

Ian - I said I was leaving as Vodafone were offering a good deal inc payment of BT line rental. PIPEX dropped from £25 to £15 straight away to match that. Better the devil you know and all that.

We were with Pipex but found them a tad expensive, to be fair there were no outtages and customers services were good. Having said that when we moved they became a farce and were completely unhelpfull so we moved to Zen and haven't looked back!

I am with pipex at the minute, they have been very good until just recenatly when I am loosing quite alot of emails!, they are having some major issues at the minute, I have the same problem at work as well (also in pipex) but more serious at work as loosing emails could mean lost sales, currently looking at our options!! There has been no improvment in the last 3 week!!

Must say they have been perfect up until the last few weeks
