Xbox 360 and playing vidoe files from a PC

Well until they do add the support for other file types the facility is pretty useless. Who records or downloads tv shows to their pc in wmv format? All mine is done in mpeg or avi. Converting them to wmv takes so ridiculously long its pointless.

I use Vista Premium (with Media Centre) and Transcode360. Totally transforms the console when you press that little green button Plays all my divx & mpegs files no problem at all.

Yep, its transcodes them on the fly Have you set up the Media Centre bit on the 360?
Once its up and running and you have avi's visible to the 360 Media Centre, you just select the file, choose Info, More, Transcode and after a few seconds of buffering it plays. Handy for missed TV episodes, got me out of trouble a few times

Yes, your Xbox360 will be able to play the bulk of DivX and Xvids come next Tuesdays Fall Update... confirmed.
