How do i fade images like this?
I have paintshop pro on my machine, but i do not know how to produce an image which is faded like the two i've just seen on this site:
How is HVR used?
So it's a little less sharp. Any help appreciated. (Yes, i still use MS Paint too )

remember to select the are you want to paint with the gradient, so for my image above I selected the bottom half and painted the gradient in that selection.
I also added another layer and painted the bottom half (again, in a selection box) to the background colour, black, and then reduced the opacity of the layer.

okay, step by step for the iTunes reflect stylee
take image
resize it to normal dimensions for practise (like 500x300 or so)
canvas size to double the height (so 500x600) and make sure 'Top' is 0
so, double height image now.
select all and copy
paste as new layer
flip the image vertically and move it so it lines up pixel for pixel and like it's completely reflected (like an M on top of a W).
new raster layer
select the bottom half area
on your forecolor palette you can select solid/gradient/pattern/null
select gradient
make sure your forecolor at the top (where you can swap fore and back colors) is the correct background colour you want to fade to - black i presume if it's like iTunes?
select the gradient color thing in the palette and you'll be able to change the angle (to 0) of the gradient and select #2 Fading foreground
so, you already selected the bottom area of the image, fill that and you should see a gradient from black to transparent
do a new raster layer
and, again, select the bottom half and fill it with solid black.
in the layer palette, reduce the opacity to like 50% so that the reflection is not the same brightness as the original image in the top half.
voila - you just have to merge all visible layers and save as jpeg.
it also works better with a 1 pixel black line between the top and bottom images

I've printed the above, copied your URL of the image to another machine, so i'm off to tackle this baby.

Just seen your image, nice.
The images i want are to blend/fade the edges to white, to fit in with the background. Does your above tutorial post still apply?

I use CS3, and find it really handy to apply stuff like this to an action (read your Photoshop help for advice) so when you need one doing again, simply click action-and it does it all for you (handy for watermarking, and bordering photos quickly)
