Xbox 360 problem - Help please- Console back from Microsoft
My Sons words, not mine
Xbox developed RROD, sent a way over 3 weeks ago. Received brand new console, today.
Tried to recover gamer tag from Xbox.com and message came up saying "cannot save to selected storage device" "please make sure hardrive is inserted correctly and there is enough free space"
The hardrive is from the Xbox which was sent off 3 weeks ago, and is inserted correctly with plenty of free space.
Any ideas gratefully received, TIA

Sorry maybe i was a little unclear, you can boot up the console without downloading a gamertag, so can you access the contents of the drive, this will prove if the drives working ok.
If so, go to the memory settings in the system blade and do the following.
"highlight the hard drive. Now press: Y, X, X, LB, RB, X, X. The following message should appear: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?", select Yes"
Then try downloading your profile, it may work, it maynot, eitherway nothing is lost so it wont hurt trying
