Default Good bye 360

Well my 5th 360 has started freezing and based on previous form the RROD is only days away. Decided I cannot be bothered anymore with Microcrap and will purchase a PS3 instead.

I will post up all the bits for sale shortly

I've had a few problems with my PS3 so don't think it will be the answer. It glitches quite often and backwards compatibility isn't great.

Had MS replaced or repaired your 360?
Despite a few freezing hickups my Launch day 360 is still working fine.

If you've got the wheel then I'd be interested in taking it off your hands

Look at the forums. Apparently the latest PS3 update has been bricking a lot of machines. Some with huge numbers of crshes, others won't boot up at all, and some won't read discs any more. Perhaps the cracks are beginning to show?

If he's on his 5th machine then I cant blame the chap for getting rid. While it's still under warranty though I'd demand a new machine and compensation for the poor service. When working the 360 is great. 5 seems a lot to me so maybe something about where or how it's been used compounding the problems?

Have thought it's me !!! Its in a well ventilated air conditioned area. Never had this sort of issues with any other machine. The 5th 360 is an Aug 07 build date so I have already tried the new route. To date as compensation I have :

Month free live
2 x Viva pinyata (Sent 2)
Crackdown
Gears of War
Wired headset
Wireless headset

Over the last two years Microsoft have lied, lied and lied on the phone. All my work calls are recorded and when I sent a copy of a call they denied the evidence and stated I had doctored the call. Yep thats right I created a number of sentences.

I have written to GAME requesting a refund as the product had an inherent design fault and under the sale of goods act I am entitled to a refund although it is past the 12 month warranty. Robbie Bach, President of MS Gaming has been on recond stating it has a design fault causing overheating !!!!

If I can win in court it will open the flood gates for everyone to get a refund up to 5 years for the RROD.

I'm on my 5th machine. Not sure how I could treat it any better though. It's never moved, on top of a hifi stand with loads of free space all alround, and I even have it sat on a laptop cooler pad (with fans blowing cold air onto the machine). Hasn't stopped them breaking.

I'd have a ps3 tomorrow if there were enough exclusive games for it, but all my mates have the 360, I've got loads of games for it, and it's a superb machine (when it's working), so I don't see the point in changing

I'm on my 2nd ... but that's because I bought 2

just luck of the draw really. Launch day premium and launch day Elite all trucking away just fine.

I'd have done the same if I had gone through 5 of them ! Good luck with the PS3 should have some good games in 2008/9

Maybe not but new PC games are usually half the price of a console game. Wouldn't be too to rack up the difference in hardware purchase.

And you can't look at east european women in the altogether on a 360

What a disgrace for Microsoft. Its comical the number of 360's getting repaired.

And I didn't realise PS3 was suffering issues, albeit to a lesser extent.

Both companies rushed their new consoles out the door - MS were desperate to be first to launch and Sony were forced to delay PS3 by 6-12 months due to what they called "supply issues"

The average PC game is about £25 cheaper than the console version. Given that a ninja PC can cost anything up to £2K, you'd have to buy at least 68 games before it started paying for itself. Of course by then the pc will be oild and decripd, so you'll have to spend hundreds more £££ in upgrading it etc. The PC is just not a cost effective option I'm afraid.

DivX is coming to the 360 (according to DivX themselves). No firm release date yet, but it is coming...

Mine would not turn on also. I was playing COD3. It shut off, never to turn on again. The shipping box arrived 3 business days as Sony said. I sent it Aug 28th. Got it back Sept 6. Considering the Labour day holiday it only took 3 business days once they had it to be fixed and returned to me. No refurb, my original PS3 (mine was only 1.5 months old). It now works fine. The blown part was PS3 regulator, switching - according to the repair workorder they sent back with it. So I don't think COD3 had a lot to do with it or the update...I was on update 1.90 at the time it went down. I think Sony has problems with this regulator switch giving out...Just thought I'd share the knowledge.
well thats going to give the M$ bashers a bit of a mouthfull to chew on

Mine is still going after 2 years, the kids hammer it, will buy another if it goes and then send the first one back to MS, then have 2 so I can get a go.

I could build a PC that would run Crysis at least as good as a 360 for less than a grand. I could do the box only without monitor for even less.

Yes there are more expensive initially but its worth the extra to not have to play FPS games on a gamepad!

On the subject of 360 longevity, my wifes has young spoilt relatives that treat everything with utter contempt and their 360 is marked, bashed and played relentlessly and is over a year old.

Edd,

Game pad is just practice .... I was a clan counterstrike player before the switch to consoles and it just takes time. Now I can headshot a bouncing Halo 3 goon 9 times out of 10

You are missing the point. PC games generally are written for the most expensive hardware, and then get scaled back for the lesser machines. I tried running Crysis on my rig (E6600 overclocked to 3.4ghz, Nvidia 8800GTX also overclocked, 2gb ram etc), I had to turn off several of the graphics options, and to be honest I didn't think it looked as good as several recent games on the 360 or PS3. PC gaming is dead as far as I'm concerned...

I have no trouble playing FPS games with a gamepad. I almost prefer it to using a mouse these days now that I've got used to it, especially when I can sit on the sofa with my 42" HD tv, and play then things in comfort

I have a lesser spec'd PC than you and mine plays crysis without a problem on high and using the mod to force very high. Plays fine if I lower the res a little bit but I can still enjoy it its full. This is on XP.

To say PC gaming is dead is laughable I'm afraid.

However each to thier own

I'm on Vista, which does run slower with the dx10 bits turned on.

Why? How many good games have been released in the last year for the PC? I've not seen a single one that has piqued my interest, whereas I've spent far too much money on console games.

Edited to say that come to think of it, I've not bought a PC game for nearly 2 years now...

Loads of good PC games about : Crysis, UT3, Quake Wars, Battlefield 2142, Half Life Orange Box, Warcraft, STALKER.
Consoles are ok though, for the kids, but I prefer the PC for proper gaming.

Hmm all of those apart from Warcraft are FPS games. Personally I like a little more variety. Plus, off the top of my head I think think of at least 10 console titles which I would never let the kids play...
