Open ports
Are there any utils out there that can tell you wehat ports are open on your router?
I,m using utorrent and have supposedly set a port on my firewall and my router to be forwarded / open.
once again the programme says the port isnt open.
or do i have a pos router? NG dg834g

My port points to my comps IP port.
I'd get the line for you but might be a while (see the thread below this 1)
As soon as the file goes up I'll get the string for you.

Shields up is your friend...
https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
Go to that site and do the scan test... I was happy to see that my work Firewall (that I maintain) was completely stealthed.
Yay. Just checked my router (same as you have) and it's totally stealthed

I suggest the first thing to do is to unplug the router for about a minute. Then plug it back in so that it has done a full reboot (don't rely on the software reboot).
Once that is done you are ready to setup the router. You need to select one port to forward, eg 7000. Forward both UDP and TCP to a static IP address. I suggest you pick an IP address along the lines of 192.169.0.20. The number you pick needs to be unique, hence the .20 at the end. Should other devices get plugged into the network it is possible for them to be assigned the same IP as your machine and cause issues.
Next go to your machine and make sure you set it to have a static IP address. Thats done in Network Connections, properties, then the TCP/IP properties box.
Make sure that the P2P program is allowed in your firewall. Just create an exception for that program on that port if you can.
Finally, go into the P2P program and enter the details you used above to get it to work.

The 834 is ok, depends on the version. The first version is the one we had and the router crashes roughly once per month when using P2P.

Google for NetworkActivPortScanner and you can scan your PC to confirm if the port is open, or just use netstat -a from a command prompt. Unfortunately I don't know that particular router, but pf is usually straightforward.

It doesn't scan all the ports, what port have you forwarded. Chances are you would need to do a custom port probe to test the port you have opened
