help ID a type of SCSI hard disk?
We've got an old creaking server which needs an additional hard disk adding to it, to increase available capacity.
The adapter is an Adaptec AIC-7892 ULTRA 160 PCI SCSI card
The existing hard disks are a pair of Seagate ST318452LW
In terms of adding another hard disk I'm looking on the scan.co.uk website and I see they offer bother 68 and 80 pin hard disks. Does anyone recognise the above models and if they're 68 or 80 pin ?
Also, scan's drives appear to be Ultra 320 - can I assume they're backwards compatible with my Ultra 160 adapter ?

This should help you...
ST318452LW - SEAGATE - CHEETAH 18.35GB 15000 RPM ULTRA160 68 PIN SCSI HARD DISK DRIVE. 8MB BUFFER 3.5 INCH LOW PROFILE(1.0 INCH ).
From SCSI Trade Association (SCSITA) - Ultra320
7. Is Ultra320 SCSI compatible with prior versions of SCSI?
SCSI devices are always backward compatible. When newer SCSI devices are attached to a system with devices from a previous generation, the newer devices will back down to the maximum operating speed of the older generation when they are talking. When not talking to older devices, the newer devices operate at their normal speeds.
