IT question networks?
I,m trying to resolve my 360 issues, and have assigned a static IP to my main pc (192.168.0.11)
now when i port forward, do i port forward to my pc,s ip addy 192.168.0.11, or do i port forward to my routers addy, 192.168.0.1
and when i want th xbox to look for an ip address, do i gve the router ip or the pc's ip
I set up the static ip, and now when the lappy tries to connect, it say ip conflict error, and i have to click fix on the icon to resolve it.
do i need to give each pc in the house a static ip?
it means my xbox goes moderate on nat though

You want to send all traffic to the router
You also want to check what IP you have assigned to the laptop - I guarantee that it will be the same as the 360 or the p.c.
Write down what has what and make sure nothing clashes

hotComm FAQ: Assign Static IP Address (Windows XP)
ip address would be 192.168.0.xxx make sure they are different for each machine
subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0
default router would be 192.168.0.1 the router is the "way out" onto the net
I imagine DNS server would be 192.168.0.1, router then forwards lookups to your ISP dns servers

you only need to worry about port forwarding, if you want the external ip address bonded to a port on a specific pc/device.
heres a summary of what i would use.
router
ip 192.168.1.254
sn 255.255.255.0
then give all devices 192.168.1.x (where x can be 1-253)
put the dns server info into the modem/router and make all default gateways the router ip address ie 192.168.1.254.
sorry if this has been said above, but short on time today

what router is it, as that will help a bit more as routers work in different ways. Mine for example has dchp set to on, and each pc/laptop and xbox is set to automatically obtain an IP. My router then remembers these address for the mac id's and gives the same ip back to the machine when it is next turned on.
any way have a look at PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall it lists most routers there and gives instructions on how to set the port forwarding up correctly
