It's possibly the best game in existence. Just buy it.

There are basically 2 products, the original WoW, which you need, and the add-on called The Burning Crusade. This gives a couple more character choices and takes it from level 60 to level 70. But to get to Level 60 it will take you several hundred hours of gaming anyway, then a similar amount to get from 60 to 70. It's optional but I'd actually recommend getting this and starting as a Blood Elf. If you get just the original game start as a human.

There is a huge amount of online resources available for it :

World of Warcraft Community Site
has the game guide and all the info you need.

This is The Burning Crusade.
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade

A huge amount of info also here :

You can buy my account if you like. Got a 67 priest & a 60 hunter.

The game is VERY good, but it should come with a health warning. It is very addictive.

You will only get the most out of the game IF you have lots of time to spend - in 4 hour chunks.

It does get repetitive / frustrating. You really need to be in a guild / group to get the most out of it.

You will have to get into guilds on your own merit. Many of which are quite hardcore and are very strict on times & attendance. You will probably need to run Teamspeak / Vent if you wish to get into successful guilds.

As you play you will socialise and make friends

The only benefit of buying someone's account is that you don't have to go through the painful process of levelling up!

It's obviously against WoW's T&C's to buy another account - but I've not heard of them doing anything about it. (just like buying gold!)

As WoW is quite old now, there are not that many new comers to the game, and you will find that most people are already at their maximum level cap & doing the end game instances.

If you do buy my account, you can obviously start a new character if you wish - your not limited to the ones I have already created!

I can't say strongly enough WoW is a time sink. You will lose so many hours of your life to it.

It was getting to a point where I couldn't sacrifice enough of my time to the game to get the most out of it (I was playing 15 hours a week).

(This bit is probably my own weakness) I became addicted to the bloody game, and saw that it was slowly eating into my life & cancelled my subscription.

It isn't just me however - just google "wow addiction". Four of my friends have cancelled their accounts under similar circumstances.

I would still like to play the game, but really can't afford the time / life needed to get the most out of it.

Any WoW player who says the game isn't addictive is lying. I suppose it's just down as to how you manage the addiction!

I'd recommend playing Halflife 2 - pick up the Half-Life Source & Orange Box & get stuck into CS:S and TF2.

Any of those online games can be horribly addictive, but also fun. For most people they are not at the level of addiction where they cannot quit. Its just that they prefer playing the game to doing other things, like cleaning and sometimes even going out.

You can form strong bonds with the people who you will fight alongside, and will end up making commitments to them. Such as saying you will help your mate do xyz on Friday night. So there goes your Friday night when another "real life" mate comes along and asks you out for a drink.

Its a slippery slope as more things will happen while playing, meaning you play for even longer meeting more cool people and making more commitments.

You just have to find a guild that fits in with your life. I never got into WoW, my addiction lay elsewhere. EVE was my fix and you really could build your own empires, with stations, bases and the whole logistics needed to feed that empire. The game never shuts down, so while you sleep someone else can be blasting the stuff you and your friends took months to build. That would mean you would either get up early or play late or enlist the help of foreigners (also known as Americans) to look after your stuff while not playing

It was great, but after a year I pulled the plug. There was nothing left to do that was fun, without going to the next level of commitment. That level of commitment was something I was not prepared to give.

I had no idea people took these games so seriously, it does sound like fun though, and perfect to burn away boring nightshifts

I played from release day of original WoW, up until approx when TBC expansion came out. I'd guess 2 years or so?

I started playing after a recommendation from a guy on here oddly enough, and joined his small guild. Basically we had a small social guild of 10 - 15 players and we worked our way towards getting our charactors to lvl60. By then we had a very close group of friends, and we'd play pretty much every night and all weekend (single - IT type job ).

When we exhausted the content for small groups of players, I started trying to get myself into a hardcore raiding guild, and after a trial I was accepted. As I was well liked, they let my mates from my old guild (the ones who wanted to raid regularly) join too. It was pretty intense, and great fun. We were raiding every night of the week, usually for 4 hours and sometimes more. On weekends we'd be doing unofficial raids or preparing for the coming weeks raids.

It's hard to describe the amount of effort we put in as players, let alone the folks organising a raiding schedule for 40-man raids every night of the week. We started and cleared Molten Core, Zul Gurub, AQ20, Onyxia, Kazzak etc. Then started on Black Wing Lair and AQ40.

It was at that point that things caught up with me, I was getting high blood pressure - partly from stress and partly from lack of exercise (I **** you not!). I'd be healing the main tank in MC or BWL (I was a holy spec priest) and simultaniously monitoring my blood pressure. It got to the stage where you'd get a 5 minute 'bio break' every couple of hours, where people would bolt to the toilet and stock up with coke/water/food from the kitchen - then rush back to the PC. It had to be pretty strict as coordinating 40 people across europe was a nightmare otherwise. Sometimes I'd alt-tab out to Internet Explorer and order a pre saved pizza order on the Dominos website in another window whilst trying to heal my allocated players.

One day I just woke up and had a reality check, and thought wtf am I doing.

It was so addictive I'd be logging in at 6am, playing for 2hrs, shower then off to work, pop home at lunchtime (worked 5mins away) to check the AH or do a few things, back to work, zoom home as soon as work finished, switch on PC, go make toast or a sarnie (no time to cook), back to PC, prepare for 6pm raid start time, raid, log off at midnight or sometimes 1am - 2am. Several weekends I'd play from like 6am till gone midnight, both days.

And the crazy thing was, there were people who played sh!tloads more hours than me, some were students and some were unemployed. One guy who worked as a civil servant only slept for about an hour a day (or sometimes not at all) and played every waking hour that he wasn't working. Another guy I knew was about 22 and was invalided out of the Finnish army on a pension after damaging his spine, he played about 20 hours a day as he had fvck all else to do. He was a really nice guy too.

I think the reasons I liked it so much were the gameplay, but combined with the social aspect too. I made friends all over europe, quite a few ended up as real life friends who I'm still in touch with.

In the end I gave my account (lvl60 priest) away to someone and walked away from the game. After 6 months away, I cracked and started playing again, and lvl'd a Shaman up to lvl65 and re-joined my guild. But it had lost its appeal, most of my friends were quitting and it just wasn't the same anymore so I stopped and sold my Shaman account for $120.

A few months after that I started again, but it had totally lost its appeal to me, and after a couple of weeks (got to about lvl22 IIRC) I quit again for good.

Great game, but too addictive for some. Wierd thing was that previously I'd never really been into games at all before WoW, and same again since. The only really good thing about it apart from the friends I met, was my entire social/entertainment outgoings were about £8.99 per month for the subscription - I literally never went out anywhere else so it was a super cheap hobby!

You can just delete my charactors if you don't want them, or use them if you like. There are like 7 or 8 low level charactors on there I think.

You can download the client software direct from http://www.wow-europe.com/shared/wow...downloader.exe , the downloader is pretty small but the main client software is about 3Gb, with a few hundred Mb of patches to install afterwards (all automatic download / install).

Let me know if you want the account details, it'd be a cheap way of getting started and giving it a try.

Nope. When you buy a CD you get the client software (which you can download free anyway), and a CD key (which you use to create a playing account).

My account has already been created/activated from a CD I purchased and entered the CD key. There's nothing else to pay other than the monthly fee which everyone has to pay, either by credit/debit card, or by top up cards which you can buy in shops or online. There's no 'contract period' or anything, you can buy as little as a month at a time and there's no notice period or anything when you quit.

If you take it, just make sure you keep the password safe so nobody else can use the account (can be changed online at the account management pages of WoW Europe website). I don't have the manual or anything, but it's pretty easy to work out how everything works anyway - plus there are loads of free websites where you can get info.

I don't want anything for it btw.
