Re: PSP Frozen
Well after my PSP decided it needed a firmware update, I attempted to do so.
The process was interuppted by the battery falling out the unit, mid update.
Now the PS willswitch on but with a black screen that switches itself off after 5 secs or so.
I have tried the hard reboot - hold power button for ten secs, also tried to remove battery and start again.
No luck
Any advice would be appreciated
Cheers

It's likely that the PSP is now dead (ie bricked).
The firmware update is basically loading the operating system, since you interrupted this it'll now have a corrupted operating system and won't boot up.
You'll have to phone up Sony and see if they're willing to replace it.

Sounds like a firmware corruption - in other words, it's "bricked" - normally that would mean, throw it in the bin, but as I'm a kind soul, I'll let you into a "secret"...
Why not google "unbrick sony psp" - there's a new technique where you can recover your PSP from this state. Its a little complicated and requires special software - so you may need to send it away to someone who can do it.
If you can't be bothered, I'll have it!!

I've got one of these service mode "pandora" batteries and works a treat (easy too) but if you want to send it to someone proper, I've used this lot for spares before and they do an unbrick/repair service for £30
