Question

Been looking at the AMD1700 they have advertised for just over a grand, tried to ring for info all afternoon but on hold for ages and never actually spoke to anyone..

Has anyone had any dealings with them? I've spec'd a system to build myself and it works out the same price as they are selling this for, plus they have 3 year onsite warranty..

The only problem I forsee with warranties, is the scope for upgrading.... and three years is a long time in computer land

mega,
yes, i found them very good
if you look at comp mags they regularly come top in tests
internals are well specced, and usually named brands (diamond, matrox etc, etc)
i found the same as you - for a complete system, you cant do it cheaper yourself.
my MESH is two years old now and hasnt missed a beat -- time for a new one though - 500m is a bit slow by todays standards

Hi,

IMHO

<on hold> If you could not speak to anyone and you wanted to buy, what kind of hassles are you going to have if you need some warranty help.

<warranty> likely to be one of those high price lines, so the help will cost you really !

I agree with mega_stream, you will end up rebuilding or upgrading within a year, which will more than likely invalidate the warranty.

Also their version of a 'good' sound card is likely to be different from someone who will build their own PC's version of a 'good' sound card.

happy shopping

Difficult to compare without knowing the full spec of the Mesh system, but with several systems I have specced recently I have found it very difficult to beat Dell. Worth a look at least.

I too would be wary of any company that can't staff their sales lines, you normally expect the service lines to be worse than sales (unless they are premium rate).

Unhappy

Thanks for the info, well tried again this afternoon and been on hold...true saying if the sales don't pickup the service lines gonna be a no brainer

Maybe I would be better building my own after-all...

The mesh computer that I had was the most reliable computer I have ever had! Used it for three years without a single problem, even though I upgraded I could'nt bring myself to get rid of it as it is still an amazing piece of kit! Even the tech support got back to me within an hour and fixed a small problem I had with DVD playback.

I bought Mesh. Top quality equipment and hi-spec components.

Good PC's, absolutely dire service and support. You need to ask yourself, do you need support?

You can always go into their showroom and order it in person.
It's in Staples Corner, N London.
