This is now doing my head in, after having my laptop repaired at a local shop, he installed some free protection software, the darn thing keeps disconnecting from the wireless after been left a few minutes....
so I'm having to reboot all the time, can somebody please advise if there is a setting to change to stop this happening

It depends why its disconnecting mate, could be a number of reasons !

Is the signal strength low ? have you change the channel ?

Do you have auto disconnect turned on ?

1. Click Start / Settings / control pannel
2. In Control Panel double-click Phone and Modem Options
3. Click the Modems tab.
4. Highlight the modem and click the Properties button.
5. Click the Advanced tab and then click the Change Default Preferences button.
6. Make sure the Disconnect a call if idle for more than box is unchecked and click Ok.

Also try disabling (or uninstalling if you're brave) the protection software (whatever that is) and see if this fixes the problem, as it sounds like this is a new thing to happen and this protection software is the cause?

Is it a firewall, antivirus or a security suite (several packages rolled into one)? The name of the package will help us understand the issue a little more...
