Default Driving seat - make one or buy one?

Right, I bought the 360 wireless wheel ages ago along with Forza 2 and Colin Mcrae dirt and so far I've only managed to do about 2 hours on Forza as shortly after we decorated the lounge so I put all the Xbox stuff away.

With PGR4 coming along I need to make some headway on Forza and CMD so I want to start using the wheel, but its rubbish when using it on lap or table so I need a better solution.

I like the look of the Playseats and cost isn't an issue, but storage is. I don't want something with a fixed bucket seat as the Mrs would go mad as it would have to live in one of the main rooms.

So I was thinking of making one out of wood or alu that can then be folded flat and stored under the sofa or something, then just have the wheel storage to sort but we have some new cupboards due soon so that should resolve it.

Anyone built one, or know of one that doesn't use a fixed bucket seat?

Any setup pics?

The Playseat I have can fold down (The back piece that is)
I have mine in the corner of my office at home. Not a massive foot print with them to be honest...
They do make the driving games soooo much better though!!

I have an absolutely fantastic one under my desk in the office. I got it from Simbin, its the ones they use for the GTR world tour that follows the GT racing around. They were built specifically for their needs, including a real race seat and brackets for surround speakers.

Unfortunately the other half wont allow it in the house, and there is no room in the office so I am thinking of selling it. The only down side is it's in central London, and believe me it's not something its possible to post!!!

Storage is the main issue - we've just decorated the living space so I don't want anything huge that I can't store, or something I have to go upstairs and carry down.

I'm thinking of building one that looks like a coffee table and folds out to reveal the driving seat and wheel/pedals

Ed - any pics, just out of interest?
