It's a big question I know, but can people recommend me the cheapest places/websites to get the best quality components, MOBOS, chips, RAM, drives, cases, monitors etc?

Many thanks

http://www.dabs.com/
http://www.simply.co.uk/
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/

Lots of other smaller outfits around

Check out PC Index as they list the most up to date prices for hardware.
As DSmith points out Scan is a good place to look since they also have a "Today Only" section here

Also,I modified the urls that DSmith listed so that they are clickable:

Scan
Dabs
Simply
Overclockers

Hope this helps you out?

Thumbs up

Also check out Novatech as they offer part built PCs and all sorts of package deals - very good, all our office PCs come from there as components and we build then.

Simon.

Check out jungle.com as well, they do decent priced parts
Just upgraded my P3 450 to a P4 1.8ghz today oh what a difference and before anyone says that AMD are quicker, read the small print... (says something like.. on windows aplications, ie office, word etc, for games they are cr@p!)

Think jungle.com quote ram (sdram 133) at 24.99 for 128meg
Still worth looking there IMHO

Damn right, not sure what reviews he reads/makes........

Apples and pears a bit, but the AMD are stronger in direct comparison in most generic use.......

Bummer is that they need much more advanced cooling in general than the Intels. Built an old PIII-1Ghz from bits lying around and was amazed that I couldn't actually hear it running and with more that adequete cooling too!

Intels for people not wanting to break the frontier etc, etc, but want a nice reliable'cough' quiet PC.
AMD for all out hooligan performance at a lower price, but more thought needed in general beforehand....

Cheers,

Nick
