Has anyone downloaded the demo for fifa 08 yet? if so, is it worth buying? ive watched a few trailers of it and looks pretty good comments...

 

Its up against PES 2008 which is supposedly totally redesigned so a comparasion of the two would be good.

 

Unless FIFA has been completely redesigned to be exactly like PES, I know which I'll be going for

 

utter crap imo.

 

I wasn't impressed. Mind you, I didn't like the last PES either...

 

The last PES wasn't a true pes game imho......

It was fine on every other platform execpt 360 - which got a half arsed, handicapped affair - However, the live aspect mad eit worth the purchase.

 

what was crap about the game? was it the graphics or was it just crap gameplay?

 

the online bit was a total JOKE!!

The method in which similar opponents was chosen didn't work. Now granted, I'm not brilliant at it, yet a similarly-ranked opponent would wipe the floor with me. Even lower ranked opponents. Hardly a fair, and therefore, ultimately enjoyable gaming experience really.

I play it with my mates when they come around, and we're all similarly rubbish(), and it's a much better game. This leads me to assume that the ranking system is pants.


Personally, I didn't find the graphics and gameplay etc that bad - a couple of slow-downs every now and again. Just points to poor conversion programming imho.

I've seen this happen on a few different types of games, i'm thinking maybe if the servers are reasonably quiet then they match you with just about anybody available.

I've also read somewhere, (in the xbox live manual that comes with the console i think it was) that player match, matches you against people with similar profile settings, ie the bit where you set up your game defaults (the bit nobody bothers doing) and is nothing to do with how good you are.

That is unless you were talking about ranked match which is supposedly just that.

 

Didn't feel like i was in proper control of the players and with the graphics it doesn't really matter as no matter how good it still looks like stickmen

trouble with the demo's is they only give you a few teams to play with (on fifa 07 they did anyway)

 

This demo gives you 4 minutes and a few teams.
But that demo looks a hell of a lot better then the demo (admittedly not playing it on an lcd/plasma) and i don't remember that bar at the bottom of the screen being in the demo

 

The problem with playing fifa 07 online is too many cheat.

 

the new 08 also has new commentators doesnt it, makes a change from the usual.

 

Just brought fifa 08 today, great game well worth buying. scoring isnt too hard actually - i play on ametuer though

 

Ive been on it since 5pm and Im still struggling with FIFA. Am really enjoying it though, the pace of the game seems more realistic to the kick and run fast paced PES IMO. Only won 2 games against the CPU so far

 

First game i played on it i lost 3-0 to wigan after i got used to it i dont find it to hard (apart from trying to header it out of the box). Have you started manager mode yet? what level are you playing on?

 

Yeah Im in the manager mode with Oldham started on Professional, biggest win is 3-0 and lost 6-0 to S****horpe in the first round of the cup. Carried on playing this morning and got sacked lol. Started again on Semi Pro and finding it much better.

 

im on ametuer at the mo started manager mode with newcastle and keep losing about £120,000 every game biggest win is 4-0 so far Another thing is the players keep on getting nackerd, so you have to stick a shocking team out.

 

A friend gave me a tip this morning is spend your money on upgrading fitness. It seems to be working. At the minute Im earning about 200k a game lol.

 

have you played the be a pro game. its pretty good but the camera does your head in a bit

 

Pro is hard as hell but really enjoyable. Gives a different perspective to football games on consoles.

Really enjoying this incarnation of the series, usually within about 10 games i would have a list as long as my arm with niggles and gripes but so far i am happy with what they have released.

 

Not tried it as yet. was thinking I wanted to learn a few of the tricks before I try that out as I wanted to be a winger.

Im back to scoring loads on Professional now. Might even up it soon as Im winning fairly comfortably now.

the challenges are too hard, i am in the english league one and not got past the 4th one, gets annoying after a while. anyone else doing these yet?

 

Does anyone know If you get sacked on manager mode, do you have to start a new one over again?
